Soon to begin daily driver build on a 250

I had the opportunity today to drive a friend's 57 Belair Convertible and it got me to thinking about putting my old car back on the road. I have a Maverick with a 200 in it, and a parts car with a 250 in it. I want to use the 250 and get an AOD to put behind it and drop that in my daily driver. I will be using the Ford Six Manual/Bible that I purchased for the main items. But I will begin this quest and hope to be able to let everyone know and see how it comes along over the next twelve to eighteen months.

Sounds like a good idea with that AOD and 250 torque you will easily keep up with traffic! What year is your Maverick?

My car to be rebuilt and put back on the road is a 1970 Maverick. The parts car is a 1976 Maverick. 70 is a two door and was my college car. The 76 is a four door and I bought it for the motor. I have a gentleman here locally, that will be doing the body work on the vehicle. I plan on trying to make a daily driver, that I can drive back and forth to the Dodge dealership that I work at. I am ford through and through, but I needed the job and have it as the controller.

Never tried to do a rebuild before. I have had several that weren't running, that I picked up cheap and made run again while I was in college. Looking forward to a simple ground up build. Want to convert from drum brakes to disc brakes. That will be something that will make it a little easier to drive and maintain. Also, I will be moving to an electronic ignition system for ease of use.

I handle the books and records. Make sure that everyone does the job correctly. We all make mistakes, myself included, so I try to be a help not a burden to those doing the different jobs.

I also have my own tax and accounting practice at home. I do work for a little over 200 clients along with my day job and this next venture I plan to get into.

The 76 Maverick should have front disks! If so just swap them over to your 70 along with the master cyclinder, proportioning valve etc. plus it should have an 8 inch rear Axel another good swap into the 250 powered 1970. Good luck

You have a good and convenient parts car! All the good stuff and you won't have to waste time tracking down each part. Except the AOD but those should be easy to find.
