My head pipe is rusted out for my 1968 Mustang 200. The collar that the donut sits around for the stock manifold has been rusted away and the exhaust leaks really bad. Is there any way to weld a new collar on here, or should i replace the pipe?

If replacement is necessary, where can i find the pipe? I believe it is called the head pipe.

Could an exhaust shop fabricate me a new collar/manifold attachment for cheaper than I could buy a new pipe? I'm not ready to shell out big bucks to replace the entire exhaust yet, so im just looking for a cheap, lasting fix.

I recently priced a head pipe for my '66 from Autozone. I ended up not going that route. But Napa or Autozone should be able to order you in a head pipe or a complete bolt in system.

Last time I had a muffler shop make one, it was $40.

The tubing they use is a lot heavier than the pre-bent pieces you get from a parts store.

The muffler shop told me that their tubing was heavier too. And for about the same price, I had him fab up an intermediate pipe since my headpipe was OK.
