Spraying water to clean up valve desposites

Water's going to be most effective in the mix, under maximum "load" on the cylinders. Noel (backlash) pointed this out to me; suggesting that steady injection while accelerating hard for 30 seconds was the best tack.

I just did this to a jeep today. came in the shop with massive detonation problems. Rev'd it and sprayed water down carb for about 30 sec. Nothing really came out the tailpipe this time and a test drive was better than before, but I still had to back the timing down. Did it do anything? Yeah it must of done something because the detonation was a little less severe.
But, I don't think the detonation was caused solely by the carbon build up. It probably cleaned what ever was in there,but the main problem was the timing was too far advanced.

Oh yeah, why did I not do the timing at first even though I knew that was the problem? 'cause I wanted to confirm this works!
