Question is... how to do it?

More direct: which cams, carb, headers, ignition, ect. with the mindset towards a positive displacement blower. I also want to be able to put power brakes on this thing BEFORE the blower. Is this possible?

Vertigoomg,

Here's how I did it.

Top end,

D7 HEAD/milled .070, SS valves, 1.75 intake, 1.50 exhaust, ported n polished, exhaust port divider, ARP head studs. FelPro composit gasket. Got the head complete from mraley.

Mounted a Holley 350. Used .500 aluminum plate milled to match carb riser on head. Milled a funnel shape in it to match the carb hole and attached it with the original carb plate mounting holes. I didn't mill off the carb riser because I didn't want to alter the head in case I wanted to go back to a one barrel or resell the head for someone else's project. Made my own adaptor instead of Cliffords funnel to keep from having hood clearance issues.

268/274 110* cam, double roller timing chain. Adjustable rocker from a early 170ci solid lifter engine.

Bottom end,

Align hone mains.
Zero deck block.
Forged pistons (not necessary)
Balanced assembly
ARP rod/main bolts
Clevite bearings.

Ignition

New Duraspark 2
MSD 6A
Accel 8mm wires
Split Fire plugs gapped at .050
Blue Spark cap, spacer, rotor

p.s. If I were building it now I would wait for FSSP's DUI.

This build made plenty of power by itself. With the stock 7.25 rear with 3.20 ratio and a 4 cylinder T-5.

I added an Eaton M90 with mixed results. It was wild when it worked but it threw belts at high rpm and I blew a head gasket. I blew the motor once too but that was the builders fault.

I didn't have power brakes so I can't tell you if there was enough vaccum to run them with the blower or not.

Since I like to drive this car as much as possible I didn't keep the blower on, but I miss the power it added.

With the blower I think the car would probably run low 14's high 13's in the quarter. Without it 15's maybe high 14's, but I never actually ran it at the track. Lots of stoplight racing thou.

I didn't have any problems with detonation with the blower. I ran premium pump gas. I plugged the vaccum advance on the distro and set it between 10* BTDC and 14* BTDC. Worked good for me. I did use an intercooler.

Without the blower I ran low grade pump gas with the vaccum advance hooked up and initial set at 12* BTDC. No problem with detonation.

Hope this gives you some ideas. Have fun,

Bob

That did give me a bunch of great ideas, but I think I'll be running a Jimmy instead of an Eaton. Other than that, I think that sounds about where I'll be headed...
