Just got my 6 banger back together, all the new goodies and rebuilt the carb, set the timing at 12 btdc , points at 25. Starts and runs fine till you stomp your footin it and it dies, carb seem to be ajusted right but need help.

Sounds like it's flooding. Try pushing the gas a little slower. what carb are you running? Mine will do that occasionally, especially if it's cold. Once it warms up, the problem isn't there.

It has the Holley 1940, it use to have a motocraft 1940. If you just drive it NORMAL it is fine, like step on the gas like you are suppose to. But stop and think what is NORMAL??????

So is it a bog when you stomp it? If you let off it catches and goes? Maybe need to check the accelerator pump is working properly. My old did that and had a busted diaphragm.

Check the accelerator pump first, if it's getting a good squirt when you work the throttle (please have the engine shut off when you look down the carb throat to look for fuel!) , then you probably have a bad ignition part, such as plug wires, spark plug etc. If you accelerate gradually and head up a steep hill in high gear at medium speed, when you are at WOT a bad plug/wire will really show up. Hope this helps.

Also, make sure the pump is on the right setting. There should be several notches for it. Try moving it up or down one notch and try that. I can't remember which makes the pump move less on the 1940.

If you stomp on it , it will die on the spot, just rebuilt the carb myself and know the accelerator pump is good. but i do remember seeing the other slot in the on the butterfly valve. it is set in the middle slot. New plugs, wires , cap, rotor and points and condensor.

Verify that your timing marks are correct. A slipped harmonic balancer will let tyou think you're running more timing than you really are. Pull #1 plug, and verify the TDC mark is at true TDC.
Other than that, sounds like your accelerator pum on your carby needs adjustment. Check the book, and make sure you know how to increase and decrease the pump outputs. 8)

That has been done, pulled #1 and inserted a rubber tube and hand cranked the motor till TDC we were even on the mark on the pulley, will be going back to the carb. AND BIGREDRASA what about them huskers, GO BIG RED
