I was thinking about canning the whole exaust system on my 66 Mustang 200 CID. I wanted to get a performance header and a couple cherry bomb mufflers. If anyone has any ideas or pictures of your exhaust setup please help a brother out.

also, i heard that ripping off the mufflers could posibly be bad for your sparkplugs? If anyone knows id appreciate it.

Thanks
Cab

Hey Cab,
I think I've got a setup like what you're talking about. Check my website for pics. Dual outs header, into either tube mufflers or glass packs (not really sure, I didnt put them in  ) But it sounds great.
Hope this helps,
Spence

i dont have pics...but i've got 4' of straight pipe from the manifold...anything has got to be better than that...but it did sound sweet when i had the pipe going all the way back...although i didnt like the sound of the glass pack....real ricey...i suppose it depends where u place it though...i had it where the cat. normally is....but then it fell of and bent the pipes so i got my straight pipe...sounds iffy...i would get the normal muffler type...which is what i assume youre thinking of cause u didnt say glasspack....u can also get mufflers with 2 inlets and 2 outlets...which would take up less space under the car....dont know how they sound though...

what kinda mods is on there motor? I saw a guy with a 1980ish 350 v8 chevy truck dropped wearing some mickeys... he had 2 glasspacks painted white hanign from straightpipe headers where u could see em hanging out the back and it sounded real smooth and mean was trying to race him but before I could passem in 2 lanes he switched lanes and I got stuck behind him.. there was a car in front of him turning and as soon as the car turned he changed gears and stomped it.. it was so freaking loud it made my ears ring..

I never used the word so much until I started watching the Sopranos.

its a tough guy act...and I love it. a way to be outrageous with out piercing your eyebrow etc...

Well fellas we have an employee who uses that word regularly. I think his life wouldn't be the same without it. Oh, and the use gets more frequent with emotion. I think I counted 19 uses within 10 minutes one day.

Every time I hear someone of the younger generation use this word or some of the others, I remember the taste of Dial Soap. I do believe there was a gentle reminder in the Lounge earlier.

Madness, Ripping off the mufflers should not hurt your spark plugs.
I assume what someone meant by that was that removing the mufflers or putting on headers etc, can end up leaning out the fuel mixture. Exhaust and carburation/induction affect each other. So yes, you may have to keep an eye on your plugs and see if they become white and blistered looking which indicates a lean condition. If so, you may have to rejet the carb and richen up the freakin fuel mixture. (sorry, I could not resist)

I always hear about rejetting... but everytime I want to get me some jets I am told they´re out of production, out of stock, especially on the 1barrels- "run whatcha brung".

Best advice yet was to ask some pro to modify the carb to accept generic holley- or edelbrock jets.

just curious - how do you all rejet?
