This is my first post on FSP and I'm so excited about fixing up these sixes.

Anyhow, I have a 1980 mustang with a 200 in it with a Holley 500 CFM carb with plenty more mods on the way. Now I have been contemplating about adding a turbo I pulled off an old TurboCoupe or going absolutely crazy and installing an 871 detroit supercharger  . The only problem with the supercharger is that it is almost as big as my little 200  , not only that but I would also need a lot of custom fabrication done such as oversized pulleys and any adapters to get it to hook up to the 200. Can anyone can give me input on which might be better?

An 871 is WAY too big for a 200.

In general you'll get more power out of a turbo but more throttle responst and a bit more midrange out of the Roots blower. Sized properly, either will do a good job. The turbo is probably a bit easier to implement.

Hey man,
hows that 500cfm carb runnin on your 200? Do you even have it running? If so, let me know, I want to put a Holley 500cfm carb on my 66 200 so that when I turbo it will be ready, but not sure how its gonne run. Lemme know man!!!!

I prefer turbos myself, and that T-bird turbo is probably about the right size. What year T-bird is the turbo from? As SR said, the 871 supercharger is simply too big for a 200. If you want to use a supercharger an Eaton M90 found on T-bird Supercoupes (and many other cars also) should work well.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just have to wait a couple of more months until I can get someone to fabricate the parts for the turbo for me.
