T04 Turbo

I am looking for a turbo for my 250 and have found a Garrett T04 turbo which I was hoping to use. Where can I get the compressor and tubine trim numbers along with the turbine A/R? I can't find any of this info on the turbo, it has a serial number and other number that I can't make sence of. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks bob

Hey Bob,

There are MANY different flavors of TO4 turbos.
Read the FAQ at the top of the forum about selecting a turbo size, then get back to us.

Linc's 200, I have read all through the FAQ and most of the posts on the site, as well I purchased the book Maximum and read it cover to cover. I have a good idea what I need for a turbo and the T04 that I can get has little information on its specifications. I have the serial number and I was hoping someone could help out, mayabe provide a site that gives the specks utilizing the serial #.

From all that I have read getting the correct turbo is critical.

Thanks Bob

The large aluminum housing for the compressor is held on with six short bolts, and so is the exhaust housing.

Once these are removed, you can measure the major and minor diameters of each wheel. With that information, you will be able to find the trim size of each wheel.

Be very careful of used turbos unless you can afford to gamble a little bit. If the seller is unwilling to give you the measurements of the wheels then let it go.

The numbers found on the little stamped metal tags on turbos are often some very foreign language that only professional turbo rebuild shops have access to and few are willing to share that info with anyone.

Look in the inside of the compressor outlet to see if the number is stamped there....on the exaust, sometimes they rust too much and the casted numbers break off.

With the measurments that you get, if you dont find the numbers on the housings, use this site. I think it is pretty good info. Havent tested it yet, but its the only one ive found with measurements.
