im going to put a DII in my car i got an MSD coil this morning. rommaster2 told me i could use a MSD control box.

is this the DII?

That is the DuraSpark distributor, and is correct. That box will NOT work. DuraSpark uses a magnetic pickup, so you have to use a MSD 6 or similar ignition box from Mallory, etc. Or just use the GM HEI module, cheaper and still way better than points.

Looks like that dizzy has a second vac port, but I think it can be blocked off. Try Summit for an ignition box-they have their own brand that I just installed in my buddies charger this summer. Works well,costs less and came with very good instructions. That being said, I have the gm module in mine and it croaked a few blocks from my house this year. Towed it home, ran up to autozoo and had it running in 15 minutes-try that with an ignition box!

Hmm when I click on those I get an oil pump and a can of spray paint

The price for the Summit box is more expensive than this one, and doesn't have a rev limiter. They are pretty similar except for that. IIRC Mallory makes Summit's ignition boxes.

MSD 6a or Mallory HyFire 6a just about the same thing...I think the Mallory is a little less expensive but a good buy on either can usually be had on eBay.

here is a link to a wiring diagram for wiring up the module as a standalone. It takes an adaptor from MSD but it looks fairly simple.

I know I will be doing this later down the road after my five lug and turbo swap is complete.
