this is a pretty common question but which mini starter to u

Different ones??
Really??

I have a bunch, they all look the same.
I think one is from a 94 mustang and another from a 93 F-150, another from a 96 Bronco. I didn't think there were any differences between any of them.

There are a couple of significant things to look for in a starter.

1. Nose length. The starter will be 2" or 2 3/8" long depending on application

2. Two hole or three. Doesn't matter, as the outer two holes are the same.

3. Engagement mechanism orientation. On all engines with a low mount starter (BB200, 250, 300, 3.8, 5.0) the engagement mechanism is oriented so that they will not clear if mounted to a high mount 200.

The high perf gear drive aftermarket starters for a small or big block can be used by rotating them to the correct orientation to clear the block and ensuring you have the correct nose length.

However, the later model permanent magnet 5.0 starters cannot be used on a 200 becasue they will not clear the block.
