throttle linkage on holley 2v?

ok I am looking to make the plunge to a holley within the next week or two but I got a question.....how can I easily hook up the linkage? I have the older style pull rod throttle instead of the lever like the mustang owners. I was thinking of making a new bell crank like the stock carb is setup on mine (using a cliffy adaptor that has this boss on it) and prob a different arm on the carb itself. my other option is to go with a cable throttle but that almost seems like more work and no one seems to say that a cable throttle made a change in their life.

btw I do have a holley 5200 that I might put on first since with it sitting sideways my pull rod will act just like a cable throttle would with no mods.

I tried several different mechanical linkages on my setup. I have a 1968 200ci engine, Holley 5200 2bbl carb with a Clifford adapter, and a 1965 accelerator rod. That did not make for a nice, clean throttle setup. I finally decided to use a cable throttle, and I can say that it is the best route to go when upgrading to a 2bbl carb.

Click on my signature picture, then click on the "Carburetor Upgrade" album. You can see the mechanical linkage I had on there which did not work out. There are several pictures of the recent cable throttle upgrade.

I used a 36" Lokar cable throttle from Summit.

hmm....I guess I will look into that also. until I have everything infront of me it is kinda hard to say how to do it. kinda hoping to maybe make a new bellcrank and just be able to run that. so what kind of pedal are you guys running? I had a fox body pedal sitting at home but seems like it needs a 2" spacer to get it out from the firewall so that it can get enough travel.

I wanted to go with the cable but my dad thought it would be easier to go with the mechanical linkage.... and I let him go at it...in the end I am using pieces from a 41 chrysler linkage and my 68 and an 80s van... it works! and really good... dont know if this would help you, but here are some pics... if you look at it I'm sure you can get how it works... And dont worry it doesnt look that bad, I did paint it and ended up having to change the mounting location because I installed headers....

I was kinda thinking of a bellcrank like that. the adaptor I am getting has a boss for a bellcrank on it so hopefully I can bend up a bracket for it to work.
