That's fine for many early Falcons and Mustangs up thru 1966, the linkage pushed up and down on those models, IIRC 1967-1968 the linkage pushed front to back and requires much more than a three inch strip to make it work. I have done both they are not really hard to do but will require a little planning and some reworking of the linkage. I think a well done linkage converison is better than using the cable system, but the cable is by far easier to do! I think the idea of a sticky on this topic is good, but make sure it states which models it will work on, otherwise someone is going to invest in a new carb and take theres off and find out the hard way that some years are harder than others. Also weather the carb faces frontward or sideways depends on the year model and which carb is going to be installed, and inorder to correct the alignment a spacer plate needs to be made to correct this, some adapters on the market correct this but then it all depends on year, model and carb selected. Good Luck!

yeah, I noticed yesterday that mine is back to front...off a little hanger rod on side of carb...

we need to collectively write a book....

I am trying to research all our posts now....and links too!

·          Clifford 6-1 headers with 2in exhaust and Dynomax muffler (installed in the V8 location)

the web site mentions, as quoted above "V8 loation". Where's that?

I have always assumed that “Vee-Eightâ€￾ location referred to the installation of the muffler. The V8 was installed under the body pan while the I6 was tucked in between the axel and the gas tank.

That is a good question. Is my assumption correct?

Hi Ric. Funny how we keep posting in differant threads :D hopefully one of these days I'll get us seattle area sixers together. I wanted the single in/dual out muffler on my car, but midas said they did not have one so I'm stuck with just one pipe in/out.

Here are a few pics of my 2bbl carburetor upgrade. I have a 1968 200ci I6 engine. The carburetor is a Holley 5200 with an electric choke. I am using a Clifford adapter (model 1651, I believe). With my setup, the pushrod on the accelerator arm was an inch closer to the engine than the throttle arm on the carburetor. I used a hole in the end of the accelerator arm to attach the aluminum flat stock to. This way, the accelerator arm and the throttle arm were lined up. I then bolted a second piece of FS to the top of the first piece. The vertical FS moves upward. The horizontal FS swings upward with the vertical piece. They pivot together. You can see the movement of the horizontal FS by noticing the groove it makes in the vertical FS.

I put the 5200 and the DFV side-by-side to look at the differences after the subject came up again. As it turns out the 5200 is the more difficult of the two when it comes to modifying the linkage. Check out TheDude’s installation and unique solution to the problem. Look at the throttle shaft end just at the linkage on the 5200 and then check out my pics again ( https://home.comcast.net/~tuckerjr3...hing similar to TheDude’s. Good luck, Ric.

see...we need to be sure here...so I dont spend any extra money..LOL
