I had to pull my head today on my 66 Mustang because I had two exhaust manifold bolts break. Looks like the holes will have to be heli coiled for a fix but such is life. Now my question is what is the torque specs for both the rocker shaft bolts and also the head bolts. Thanks for the help.

I'll double check in the morning on the rocker shaft bolts but I think they are like 25-35 ft-lbs. But don't go by that. THe head bolt are torqued in 3 phases. First is 55 ft-lbs. Wait about 30 minute, second phase is 65 ft-lbs, wait 30 minutes-24 hours, and last phase is 70-80 ft-lbs. I used 75 ft-lbs.

Also don't forget the sequence...

'nother question: the '65 shop manual sez to put water sealant on #1 and #6 bolts. Are they saying to put sealant on the #1 and #6 bolts in the torque sequence or ALL bolts around cylinders #1 and #6? me confused.

no...the bolts beside the water jacket on #1 and #6 cylinders. I think they are the two on the driver's side.

I think the driver's side has the push rods, so it might be the passenger side. Regretfully my car is in Dearborn and I am in Fresno CA right now. I'll look at her when I get back.

Tanx for the info! :D
