Turbo on stock

I am building a 300 to put in my 36 international pickup. This is the first 300 I've ever had. Im wanting to run a turbo on it. And I know nothing about what it will handle or what I have to do to run a turbo. For starters it came out of a 94 f150. It was a FI motor but I am converting it to carburetor for simplicity. I seen a video on YouTube or tik tok a while back where a guy had put a turbo on a 300 and claimed it was stock. Im not wanting to run a crap ton of boost. Just maybe 10 lbs. If anyone else has done this do you have any pointers. Like can I run stock pistons do I have to have a certain type of carb? And how do I control how much boost makes it to the carb. Any input is appreciated.

Welcome! I'll let others address the turbo. I will point this out: an EFI engine requires far less ignition timing advance than a carb era 300. Be cautious what distributor you get. There is no aftermarket (or DS2 Ford) correctly curved for the EFI head AFAIK, don't be fooled by advertising.

look at Keystone turbo they use carbs they also use a one piece intake and exhaust plate to build off of good luck
 
Welcome to the forum.
When you turbocharge a 300 six the timing must be reduced as the boost pressure increases so the ignition timing should be controlled electronically.
DFW Speed syndicate will provide you with a full turbo kit for your 300 six that uses your stock EFI exhaust manifolds.
They use the Aces throttle body injection in place of a carburetor that will control the timing as well as the fuel.

I'm a fan of low-boost builds to emphasize how a well built stock six can simply (inexpensively) achieve the equivalent of extensive NA build performance.

It claims at 3000 rpm - 90 RWHP without boost and 168 RWHP with 8 Lbs boost . Probly' bit optomistic but impressive .
