Turbo Propane

So a little side project I have goin on at the moment is a 1964 F-100. I know all the guys that love the restoration project are gonna slap me for this, but I'm dropping the body on a 1996 F-150 drivetrain (what can I say...I love power steering, modern suspension and disc brakes) that I just picked up cheap. Was orginally gonna go with a 302 done up to move this wagon along but got my hands on a Holset HX35 off a 98.5 Dodge Cummins 5.9L. Been reading up on turbos and have the Maximum Boost book that I'm currently reading through. So here's the plan so far...the 1996 drivetrain came with a 4.9L on propane with an E40D transmission. Going to tear into the motor and make sure everything is still good and put new bearings in the bottom end and most likely new set of rings if not pistons as well...we'll see what the tear-down brings. From there I'm planning on running a blow-through system with the HX35 and run an intercooler as well. The one thing I have to make sure is that my atomizer can stand up to 15psi of boost if not more...should be able to get away with this amount of boost ontop of the stock compression because of the high octane of propane. Any tips and suggestions would be great...will keep things posted as they happen.

If you have not done a build before on a blower and/carb setup, purchase one. Slide on over to theturboforums.com and that will give you more direction on what you need.

If you want to get slapped around or flamed out, you have definitely wandered into the wrong shop. If you want real-deal advice and help, stick around.

There is only one word you may not utter. It starts with a consonant and ends with a number. (Well, okay, you can say it sometimes but only in the right context, like "dump the ***** for a six".)
