Update on Tri-Power

Its been a minute since I updated everyone on my progress, so here is goes.
I was waiting on an accelerator pump I ordered so not until yesterday did I have the three carbs on the head and running.
I got them on yesterday and it started right up, still trying to figure out the throttle cable/rod situation, it won't hit WOT with the set up I have now.
I did drive it around a bit, and there is def. a huge difference in power :D
It is idling really high now with the three carbs on there, is there a good way to slow it down or is this just what I get with tri-power?

Thanks a bunch fella's!!

> Welcome to the Tr-Power club where the members never make the meetings 'cause they're in the garage tuning the three carbs...

> Throttle / Progressive linkage takes some work to get where it's smooth idle to WOT. lengths of carb or cable fulcrums may need attention.

> The idle on my Tr-Power Holley 1904's is stable down to where the 274 Cam starts getting too lumpy @ 900 RPM, the center Holley handles idle and low speeds until @ 2/3 pedal where the outer carbs flip open to WOT with the primary.

> My tuning method basically is "Block- off" plates for outer carb ports and swap each of the TriPower carbs on center, until each idles and runs well , then remove blockoffs', get center primary to tolerate a little vac and fuel leakage from outers and maintain consistent idle. Outer carb integrity as far as vac' leakage around throttle shafts is critical. I run no choke setup .

HAve Fun

The idle mixture screws on the outers are only out 1/2 turn and the idle speed turned all thr way down. Same as powerband Idle off the center and use the ends as secondaries.i had a higher idel untill I tuned all 3 , I am idleing at around 750 in park and 650 in gear. I am running the weber 34 ich carbs.

... oh yeah, the initial idle tuning my be helped with careful use of extra springs to help settle the throttle to closed ( ) . I've mentioned that the Offy linkage and fuel supply kit "hairsprings " that work with the intended 1904's are simple-and ingenious.

I have found modifying the power valves to open at different vacuums helps too. As some cams are wild enough to open them at idle because of low vacuum.
