well, ill put it on and it will just spin around then it will slide in some and then stop again, it will spin and feel like its spining one of the shafts, but it wont go in any father, and weve spun it sround very slowly pushing it in and it wont go in at all, any ideas
You don't have it seated all the way, and if you try to bolt the tranny up you'll ruin the front pump, or worse!

You should feel two definite clunks as the converter seats onto the input shaft and the flats of the front pump shaft. You need to lift up, and turn the converter while pushing forward at the same time. When it seats fully, it will make a solid "thunk" noise. Be patient!!!

Try seating it with the centre input shaft removed. Lay a straightedge across the bell face and see hw far back it sets. Now remove the TC and check the input shaft fits in the TC and tranny separate to each other (spline counts can vary). If all is good, then it's just persemaverance. But I suspect you've got a mismatch in there.

yeah i pulled the torque converter again today and had a peak inside. It looks like to me that the inner shafts gearing has stripped the teeth out of the torque converter. If that makes any sense. SO i went and ordered a new one today. It will come in friday and I will try mating them up next this weekend, hope all goes well. This is tortue for me, seeing my pretty new engine there all ready to go and this hunk of metal is keeping from my baby. Oh well, all good things take time. :D

Well hopefully this will be my second to last update for this thread. I got the new torque converter last thursday and tried to seat it in. UGH.... The part guys ordered me the wrong one AHH. But while I had this oversized beast I took a glance at the inner splines and they looked exactly like the ones from my old one. So my origional converter was fine, that transmission guy just didnt know what he was talking about..

With this new found knowledge I realized that me spending another day or two messing with this thing was only going to set me back farther, or harm my transmission. So I towed it down to a local shop and said, fix it, and while your at it, mate up my engine and transmission for me :) Got it back the next day, yesterday, almost all ready to go. I just have to add in all the little parts etc now. They only charged me 150 to drop it in so that isnt bad considering it will save me the hassel of trying to move an engine hoist around in a gravel drive way. :(

So I think im feeling sick (cough cough) and Im not going to college tomorrow and spend some quality time with my car. YEAH.. Im shooting to have it up and running for this weekend. Our local drive inn is opening up and its supposed to be nice out so Im looking forward to shoing it off there. Thanks guys for all the help and advice. Ill let you know when it runs finally. BTW if anyone knows how to post pics in this forum please email me some instructions, Im lost. And Id like to show you guys what all this trouble has been over. :)
