I am interested in painting my valve cover..

Can I just unbolt this, paint, then bolt back on?? :?:

Its a trivial thing but my cars finally starting to function properly and any lil'bit I can do to clean it up is welcome.
:USA:

yep, i did the exact same thing with some high temp ceramic spray paint from kragen. You might need a new VC gasket when you put it back on.

It's not enviro-friendly, but paint stripper of the methylene chloride type is great for decrudding the inside and prepping the outside. Be sure to use a proper wax and grease remover after all the scuffing to clean up, though. Also, keep the paint out of the inside. It will float away and wind up in your oil filter...

Adam.

When I put this back on do I need to know anything special? Or does it just bolt back on..Bolt till its tight?

Don't bolt it too tight, it crushes the valve cover around the bolts and will warp it and possibly cause leaking...
