Vibration

Hey I just replaced my motor mounts because one was busted. The problem now it that at idel the whole car vibrates. I tryed swithing the motor mounts but it still vibrates. Any ideas? The vibration can only be felt at idel. I can drive it nice or really get on it and the vibration goes away. so any where from 500rpms to 700ish prms the vibration is felt.

thanks,

Curtis

Maybe look for something that could have been messed up from the engine moving with the broken mount? Exhaust got twisted or hangar broken or bent? Throttle not returning all the way shut because rod got bent? Transmission mount damaged?

:? How was engine jacked up to change the mounts?
Was the jacking point the harmonic balancer?
Check for damage to the balancer.
If engine was smooth before the mounts change,I would think that the only thing that would have an effect on smoothness would be the balancer.
Also, check for a damaged vacuum fitting or line.

The engine never ran smooth. The motor would jump around a bit but it wasent till the other day, that it really started to jump. The jack was placed uder the pan with a piece of would to distibute the weight and not to damage to pan. I dont see anyhting bent or anything that stands out. All lines and rods look to be fine. If teh balancer was the cause, wouldnt the vibration be felt through out the entire rpm range. This vibration is like a cell phone on vibrate but felt through out the whole car.

Thanks,

Curtis

:D Hi Inline6merc.Somebody correct me if I`m wrong on this, please.
IF a harmonic balancer is damaged,it is possible for engine harmonics to cause vibration to come and go through out the engines RPM range,IF the damage is not too severe.Or so I have been told.
