I have decided to purchase the Weber 2V carb from Stovebolt along with their adapter. I was wondering if the linkage kit they sell and recommend will work or will i have to fab something up.

This is the carb link.

This is the link to the linkage kit. Is it the right one?

I am anxious to get this on my car, I have heard good things about it.
Any recommendations or advice on past experience with setting this up would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

ask stang200 (chris) ...he fabbed one up and says its a snap

Hi

I ask Tom, the owner, if his linkage kit would work on my Mustang but alas he's a Chebby guy and the linkage is for the Chebby 6. Mustangaroo posted a pic of the mod he did on his son's Holley/Weber and it doesn't look to hard to fabricate.

drivn1hot66,

You won't be disappointed with the Weber 32/36 and the adapter from Tom. However, I must point out that if you are looking for more than 150+hp from your 6, then you should be considering a different carburetor. The 32/36 was designed with fuel economy in mind first then performance. You should also know that you will more than likely need to change jets in order to work with your 6. The two that I've order came with jets sized for a 4 cylinder - too small.

As far as linkage, just as Chaz said, pretty easy. Takes alittle thinking but pretty much a snap.

The only thing you need to consider is hood cleaner for your air cleaner. There are several options out there but probably the easiest to work with would be one designed for the Weber. They typically are rectangular in shape and are about 1-5/8 to 2" tall. Any taller and you could have a problem.

That leads me to this question for you. Do you have an adapter plate below your existing carburetor that allows you to hook-up a PCV hose? If you do, keep this, you will need it in order to orient the new setup properly.

I would post some photos of my setup but my host seems to be down. If you need some pictures, I would be glad to send them to you.

If you need any more information on this upgrade, I'd be glad to help as much as possible.

Well there six jets to be exact.

Most have found the following to work well with there 170/200.

Main Fuel Jet - 180 to 185
Main Air Jet - 150 to 165

Secondary Fuel Jet - 165 to 180
Secondary Air Jet - 145 to 160

Primary Idle Jet - 65 to 70
Secondary Idel Jet - 55 to 65

Again, I stress most have said these numbers work well. Sometimes the numbers can be a little bit higher or low. It depends on your engine build. The wilder your setup (i.e. 272+ cam, 9.5:1 CR, headers, etc.) the more fuel and air you will need - hence larger jets - hence larger numbers.

Mine came out to:

MFJ 185
MAJ 180
SFJ 185
SAJ 180
PI 70
SI 65

Chris, I see your numbers for the jet do these numbers start from a stock 200? I have a stock '78 200.I thought you could order your carborator from stovebolt with what jets you needed. It's time to get a new carborator for me and i'm going to the weber.Thank you for any and all imformation.Ken N.

i saved those numbers of jets when you PM'ed me Chris...I am gonna do it soon, but maybe havce a shop install so I can get a cable accelerator

Yes, those numbers that I posted are for a relatively stock 200. Again, once you start upgrading, you may or may not need larger size jets. It's something that you will just have to adjust as time progresses with the add ons.

IIRC, some members with headers, higher compression, a strong camshaft, etc. have found those numbers to work well. There doesn't seem to be a large varience in jet sizes for the 170/200. Weither you have a mild or wild build.

And yes, you can specify the jet sizes upon ordering. But make sure you tell Tom what you intend to do with the carb. Meaning, what it's going on. He will probably agree with those numbers.

Chaz, are those numbers I sent you close to what I posted today? I think they are but I just want to be sure I'm giving out the right information. It's been awhile...
