what carbs should i use for a 3x1 intake.

if its not a problem i wouldnt worry about it. you should post the actual numbers that your getting at what rpm and maybe somebody can help. also hook it up to the manifold and post what you get there.

Does that clamp on? Never seen one of those before...

Why not have your welder cut some flanges out of 1/4" or so steel and then weld them on? All you need is a flat plate with a big hole in the middle and holes for hold-down bolts, right?

thats what im doing right now, out of 3/16" steel. but i just think that somehting like the stainless flanges would look better, because right now they dont look that great. im sure theyll work, but i want it to look really good too.

Those look nice! Shame they're not still available (but surely they are somewhere?)

I'd think that with a little grinding / filing, you could get some mild steel flanges to fit and look pretty well, especially if you're going to paint the head / intake. Use the carb base gasket, then trim the flanges right to the outer edges.

theyre not available anymore cause i just bought them. :)

only $16 for both, pretty good deal too.

and i just bid on a ICH, things are really coming together for it now.

i bet i could get some mild steel to look good enough, but not as good as the machined SS flanges. and its less work for me.

Love it! What you're doing is the perfect approach.

I just love it - simple, direct, and you're not just lobbing money at it.

thanks! i love to hear compliments on it. i used epoxy putty to fill in all the scratches and imperfections, sanded it smooth and painted it tonight. ill take pictures tommorow when its bright out. the motor should be back together by wednesday or thursday, napa had to order an oil pump screen from kentucky for me. cant wait to hear it running again.

Nice Job Patrick. IMO this is the "right" way to do a tri-carb.

The welder did a nice job on the weld, did he mig or tig it ?

that looks great . what was yor total cost on the welding. where did you end up buying the carb flanges. i was pondering doing this myself, until i can save enough for a 2v or aluminum one from mike. what was the metal that you used to make the pieces that come up from the log. exhaust pipe? any advice for me.

welding was $50, piping is 1.5" OD exhaust pipe i bought from advance auto parts ($1.88 ). i bought the flanges off ebay, it took a while to find some that were small enough, they cost $16. about $70 total.

they're out of stock right now, but they may have more because they still have'nt taken it off ebay. if they dont you can get some steel and cut your own out, i bought these because they looked better.

this is pretty interesting, a comparison of the offy vs. the 2v. i wonder which one gets better gas miileage.

Man watching the work you did really amazes me. Theres so much ingenuity and hard work on these forums.
Thanks rommaster. it really wasnt as much work as i thought it would be. it would have been more if i had welded the tube to the intake myself, but i didnt want to take any chances.

i wanted to see what it was going to look like when its completed.
