Have you run this car, or is this a first time startup after a long term storage?
If it's after a long term storage:
drain the gas tank, clean the fuel tank, lines, carburetor, and replace the fuel pump, fuel filter and air filter.
replace all the vacuum lines. replace the oil and filter. If it's an automatic change the transmission fluid and filter.
plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, distributor cap and coil. set the plugs at .035.
change your battery cables, charge the battery
drain the anti freeze flush the radiator, drain again, then replace the thermostat with a 180* t-stat
check the belts for cracks and rot, check the hoses as described above
once started, check your timing, probably should be set around 7*.
pretty straight forward on these engines.
