What I'll do for a Turbo...

As Big Al knows...all work on the KaStang has to get approval through negotiations with my wife. No...it's harder then just buying her jewelry. It can takes weeks or months to get her to agree to major modifications...like EFI and Turbocharging...

So, She agreed to EFI as payback for her doing some stuff she really wanted to do and took a lot of time and effort on both our parts (though I was not able to actually do the events). From guilt she said "So...you want to do that EFI project still?"

Now the Turbo has taken months of negotiations. Now don't forget, I've spent the last 18 months painting our "new" house because she didn't like the color when we bought it. She said that was for the Aussie Head. But, to the turbo her conditions, as agreed to this morning to finally get authorization to Turbo the car:

1) Have to fix the drivers seat. It's old and stuck in a position that only I can drive it (convienent...hehe).
2) Have to put better brakes on (already working on this. I am replacing with V-8 drums all around).
3) Have to do a 60 mile walk for breast cancer with her next year.

And the Biggy:

4) IT HAS TO REMAIN RELIABLE AND DRIVABLE (This is where you guys come in)

So...I ask my feet: Feet, are you up to it. I'll need the turbo as I won't be able to walk anywhere afterwards (don't worry, I'll be training). The only reason I think there weren't more requirements is the fact that I am STILL painting the house 3-5 days a week (thus why no updates to the webpage) either after work or on the weekends.

Man...the things I'll do for that car (which is my car on paper...but her car)

Your dedication is an inspiration to us all.

I'm lucky- I only have to negotiate for body trim and paint color. SWMBO has an AA in Art, and is pretty handy at it. So I'm not allowed to break up the hood/canvas with things like hood scoops. Still negotiating a front airdam.

ps- Buy good shoes. And the BC walk is a good cause. Will it win brownie points if you get sponsors from the Forum? :)

Yes...Don't worry, I plan to hit all you jokers up when the time comes...

Major body mods are non-negotiable. But that's fine with my. I'm not allowed to mess with the stock lines at all.

Egad! What a wimp, Slade!

I'm the man in my house, and always have the last words...even when they are, "Yes, Dear!"

The walks are over for this year, but I'll be doing them next year. Interested Al?

We have started the kid discussions. Looks like we'll start in 3 years.

im still young with no kids or a wife. but the old man is still behind me. i just dont tell him what i do and like a month after its done he ll come out when im working on the car and say what the hell is that, i reply with ... o it makes the car run better lol

Brah,

Do like me. Buy it, hide it, install it, or in my case just keep it hidden. Of course the Comet is really her car, I'm just the hired hand.

Oh and the kids in 3 years talk is good. You'll need that much time to stock up on sleep.

Laters,

See, my downfall was teaching my wife about cars and having her help me ever now and then. NEVER EVER do that...EVER.

Now she knows if I've changed anything drastically.

As far as diamonds...my wife doesn't really like jewelry. Trust me...it's a huge pain in the arse that she doesn't. I actually have to thing of gifts of some significance instead of just getting jewelry.

Slade

so then what did you propose to her with? a new head and intake? jk but im sure that when she gets it, it really means alot . and im sure she knows what you went through to get this item for her. you sound like an average couple to me. do this and il let you do this. guys dont realize how much control they are under till this kind of thing happens . the ladies know how to manipulate to get what they want. and i think they can do it well. maybe not your wife specificaly slade. good luck with the turbo project

Slade,

Like MTV would say, "YOU GOT PUNK'd".

I bet she enjoys all the work going into the car. But pretending gets her the car, a newly painted house, a companion for the 60 mile walk and a guarantee to try for kids in 3 years. It's all good though man, I think my wife is the same. I doubt she doesn't notice the turbos and extra Argie heads in the storage.

do you know how lucky you are to have her interested in stuff like the mustang(and not buying her expensive jewlery is a big +) i wish my wife was. it was and still is hard to get her to play softball with our team (and she is half deceant at it). sometimes i don't see her all week with my soccer and softball and she has her excersize class 3 days a week.

so don't take her for granted, but get everything done before you have kids

and another thing

Lingerie all the way

DB and john,

It all works out in the end. I like working on the house most of the time. I love working on the car (most of the time). She likes to keep me busy, mainly because I'm not happy if I don't have a long term project.

That's one of the reasons she suggested looking for the mustang when we did. We were renting a house at the time, and had nothing but new cars. I had just gotten off a ship where I was an engineer...so my tinkering hands started messing with our Volvo...

My wife put an end to that with the Mustang. SHe loves mustangs, and want to keep my hand away from our nice cars.

But it all works out in the end. I count my blessings everyday.

Slade

so you see? It's perfect!

Also, remember this, when it's all said and done the turbo six is going to be hers and you're just around for the "fringed benefits". Which ain't bad at all.

say it with me "I LOVE MY LIFE"

After it's done, get a 2nd Mustang. Swap the N/A motor from the second one into hers, and take the turbo motor- so hers will get "better mileage."

She'll probably see through that like it was glass, huh?

Man Slade, I must be the luckiest man alive! My wife lets me buy whatever it is my car needs! And she likes to help me work on it to boot!
Of course I have to give equal time to her Falcon, but that's OK with me! Her car is cleaner and easier to work on.
