My real problem is I am out of town for work several months at a time then home for a couple of weeks so hard to get things done but as I have learned you need to collect all the parts you need way ahead of time. So in regards to my plans for direct mount 1.08 on my new D7 head my question is this 1.08 came off a 302 so the main jet is probably to large. The last time I was home I forgot to check to see what size is in there now. What size should I look for and where to go-Pony Carbs?
I plan to port and polish the D7, use the stock valves and direct mount the carb and use with the stock bottom end for now. Then rebuild one of the blocks I have with a mild r/v type cam and try to at least minimize the piston height issue with out spending a lot. Planned compression ratio about 9.1 or so. Headers some time after that.
Thanks for your help.

Use the same jetting as the 302 1.08" carb as a start point.

In Australia, the 1971-1974 170 gross hp 2V 250 ran similar jetting to the 200 hp 2V 302W and 240 hp gross 2V 302C engines.

In the Aussie Chrysler camp, the 1972 185hp gross
265 2-BBL ran the same carb and jetting as the 207 hp gross 318 2-BBL.

So you'll be fine if the engine is cleaned up with good headers...the carb won't notice the loss of 21% of its original engine capacity

Thanks xctasy. So the headers are probably needed right from the start.
My new head is actually a D8 not a D7. Don't know if a factor but the 1.08 was used on a Bronco at sea level and I am at 4000' feet elevation.

Check what the call numbers are on the 1.08. If you can find a call number two steps lower, and if you can add a pice of 10 amp silver fuse wire to the power valve channel restriction, and then add a 6.5 Holley power valve, you should be able to avoid going too rich at wide open throttle.

We put a 1966 Galaxy 390 2100 Holley on a stock 265 Chrysler Hemi with headers and toploader , and it was perfectly fine. No jet changes

Ok and thanks again. If I can use what I have one less thing to look for as it seems the Autolite jets are hard to find.
