What's the best 1bbl carb for the 200?

Frankenstang, I couldn't tell but was that "good luck" a vote of confidence for the YF?

BTW guys, just found out that the 75 and 76 200 Mavs and Comets came with a Carter YFA. I can't seem to find any CFM numbers on this one. Any here run one? What's the general opionion on this version of the Carter?

im running one on my 170.its running rich but noone seems to know how to adjust the mixture on the yfs.it has a metering rod for the mixture.

Hey Ralph, yeah kinda combined thoughts there...wishing you good luck on your carb selection and also like David's thoughts on the 300 version, which would seem to make for an easy upgrade on your setup (or an easy reverse swap if ever needed). If I hadn't done the pony wallet vaporizer, I probably would have gone with either the later 1101 or one of the carter's myself, since I'm a committed 1 barreler.

Pony sells 'improved' 1100s. They do their own internal engineering. You can still get a stock 1100 off the shelf or by ordering from a Mustang house.

I was able to purchase my autolite 1100 from a local Auto Shop. It's a very popular chain. They ordered if from another supplier and I was able to save about $200 on what they normally cost.

Howdy Back Ralf:

DId you go with a Carter YF? FYI- Pony does make an 1100 with no SCV, because the '68 & '69 200s used them. They were down on CFM, but had ported vacuum for a point type, vacuum and mechanical adviance distributor that was stock for those years.

FYI the "A" in YFA is a mystery to me so far, but it may have to do with alterations and/or crutches to make it more EPA friendly. Or, it could be an auto trans ID.

You haven't posted in awhile and I was just curious which way you went.

Adios, David

Hey hey hey David. Been a bit busy lately so that is why I haven't been able to post. Withy our information, I decided that for my limited knowledge of mechanics, I am going to go with the YF off of a 300 like you suggested. I think in the end, I may just decide to screw around with nothing but bolt on parts that are available as well as doing more studying for any future builds.

Don't know how much info I will get with just bolt on parts, but it's a start you know?

So I made a very interesting find today. I went over to the garage to wake the Maverick up from it's winter sleep and decided to look under the air filter housing to look at my carb. Since I never really knew how to identify a carb before I came along this site, I decided to look on the side of it. I found that I actually have a Carter RBS attached to my 200. I'm actually wondering now if I have a 250 but I've ran the vin through some sites and it is confirmed to be a 200 that came with my car. Guess the previous owner slapped it on there. Hell, this is great news for me actually. :)

Hey btw, what would be some good maintenance ideas right now for my car? The tank is practically empty. Should I add some gas with some carb cleaner and let it run on idle? Or whata re some other plans?

i have a newer style holley 1940, that thing smokes the stock carb, however you would have to make a adapter plate to fit the bigger butterfly like i did, and it has never failed me

I have the pony with an scv and the duraspark II. I just plugged the scv with a rubber stopper. Once I got the timing all dialed in (it wasn't exactly perfect from the factory) I got the thing to run better than ever. My engine is for the most part stock and in terms of ease of install it was great. Sure it was expensive, and it took a while to get (I bought mine last month I think?) I was nervous about the bad reviews too, but I think it was a solid decision. Best upgrade yet.
