I'm just contemplating my next upgrade....

Anyone have any ideas what I should do next??

Heres a few I've been tossing around...

1.) 2500-2800 RPM stall convertor.
2.) Install 66 "Hi Compression" head and Modify it just like I did the current one (direct mount 2 Bbl Holley)
3.) New header and exhaust
4.) Nitrous?? (Bored .060 over  )
5.) ???

Just Brainstorming!

I say keep the C4 Doug. It's running good for you. My C4 was 3/10ths faster than my T5, FWIW, and it's not like gas mileage is big concern.

What's wrong with the header? Nitrous would be fun, but I'd like to see you maximize the drivetrain with a converter, a 4 lug 8" swap with 3.70 gears, some type of posi, and some good sticky tires (read drag radials). Then, maybe next summer, think about the nitrous ;)

Just my 2 cents. See ya'

I agree with mustangsix with the T5 it made all the diffrance for me. Maybe a TCP subframe connector. I had one installed and it does wonders no more sweeking for this car!!!

Nitrous would be cool too. go with wet (dont think they make dry) direct port system for equal distrubution

that's weird the c4 being faster than the t5, i sure as hell hope the t5 is alot quicker than the 2.77 i used to have but now rests in pieces under my car

If your drag racing, a C4 is it. If you've got fuel consumption, drivability and aren't worried about an uncontrolled burnout, the T5 is a good option. A 4-cyl one would cry enough if you spent lots of time burning rubber.

I'm disposed towards autos with four gears, since they allow you to run a higher stall without loosing fuel economy or drivability.

Everything is so inter related in a car.

For me, if I was in the US, I'd be hasseling every Japanese engine importer around for a Toyotas Orgura SC12 or SC14 blower from the Jap Toyota Carina/Celica/MR2's, and shove it where an A/C unit would go. Geared right, a good carb would tee-up to this excellent postive displacement blower, you'd get a 30% boost with just the supercharger at 6 pounds boost. Heck, if you dialed up 12 to 14 pounds, 280 flywheel hp is available from a car which normally aspirated can onlt do 160 net flywheel or about 120 rwhp. There is heaps of info on it, and it can be clutched in an out of operation just like an AC unit. On demand, mate! Just like
Mad Max!

This way, your ride wouldn't need a hi-stall trans, hi- comp head or any pretence to efficiency. Just dial up another 40 minimum stampeading Ponies when you got the urge!

Do a search on these devices. SG12.Supercharger, SG14.Supercharger, or Ogura.Supercharger.

My mate has one on his GM Holden Commodore with GM 3800 V6 and it has gone from 140 hp at the rear wheels to 180 rwhp. It eats V8 5.0 and XR6 non-turbo Falcons for breakfast!

Castlemain Rod Shop (in Aussie, natch!) has three kits, but no Ford ones just yet. Have a look at these....

Hey Xecute,

Can you imagine that blower on Jack's Locost7?

If a Porsche 935 is giving him a problem, he just flips a switch and he's gone! No problem!

Is it Mad Maxx? NO it's LEATHAL WEAPON!

I'll just PM Al now...to join two 3.03:1 toploader 3-speeds together, and make up a cheap six speed gearbox. Mustang Geezer can be the first to try it!

John just can't shift as fast as the C4.

You're exactly right Mike. The T5 isn't that well refined, cable clutch linkages suck @ss, and stock '68 seats don't exacltly provide a lot of support when you are trying to step down on a heavy clutch.

I hate autos in sports cars...

Me too, but I never considered my old Mustang a "sports car". Not by a long shot.

Give me a C4/C6 in an old Ford anyday. One less thing to worry about.

I would go with the T5 for sure - follow that up with 3:73 gears in the rear

I also vote for some lo-buck handling mods.

bigger sway bar, GT steering box, lower the front end a bit, and drop the upper arms. Maybe some of SSB's 4 lug discs to match the aluminum rear drums he already has.

16" rubber, some modern sticky rubber, and you will be all set for the next thing.

I would go for the NOS.

A T-5 doesn't seem like Doug's style. :) Now if he was more of a Road Racer than a Drag Strip kind of guy I was say yes.

Some low buck handling upgrades like Jack said would be good. Subframe connectors (Not TCP or Global but just plain old $80 CE) Shelby drop, crossmember to lower control arm ties, etc...
