i have a 74 maveric Carter RBA carb and a Carter YFA carb, the RBA is at least 1" shorter and is a lot more simple. if anyone hase info on the RBA carb please help thanks
i drew a pic of the carb and it really is a Carter RBS not RBA so if this little bit of info helps then maybe you can help me out as to which carb is better ( the carter yfa or the rbs) the RBS is about an inch shorter so i think it might have better airflow and its a lot simpler design with the body being one piece (the fuel bowl is the only detachable part of the body and allows acess to the vitals of the carb) as apposed to the YFA which has three sections to it. if anyone does know or even has any ideas as to the cfm or if i will have problems with the RBS cause i have never seen this type of carb before> thanks
hi guys, i thought my carb info was in my manual but its not and i cant remember if the carter YFA has a cfm of just over 300 or just under 200cfm. i know u guys know and i think it was posted somewhere but i cant find it so if u guys could help me out that would be great thanx.
alright i did some homework and found out that the carter RBS has 215cfm and the YFA has 193 cfm. supposedly the YFA has better idle circuit, but they look about the same to me, but the accelerator pump design is definitely better than the RBS but i just rebuilt the carb so it should be fine, guess i should just try it out and see now.
most of the carter info i have found is just places to buy carbs but there is one which is a diagram of a carter in pieces. And remember that any carb can be made to fit
i did it again, i hit submit instead of preview
the diagram is in this chunk. and in the last chunk are a few sales sites but also a bit of tech, the last site is actually about carb mods for supercharging. but if your interested in carb detail im not pro so again here are some more sites:
http://www.inlinepages.com/~inlinefever/carter_carb_swap.html
-this site is Inline Fever and most of you know this site, its got a lot of info on do-it-yourself. it even shows in another section how to custom make your manifold to use different carbs.
thetrueslayer,
Thanks.
Others, also check out the Carburator Factory site mentioned above.
They have a lot of exploded views for those folks servicing more than just the single Venturi carbs. http://www.carburetorfactory.com/evindex.html
