I just bought a a Clifford header and I want to know which diameter exhaust I need. The pipe in the header looks a but bigger than my stock exhaust. Will the stock pipes work with the header?

Stock pipes work fine, but the stock pipe is only 1.75" You need to have an adaptor made up to reduce the header outlet to match your exhuast pipe size. A muffler shop can make the reducer for you or they can hook it up for you with an adaptor. Clifford says that you only need the stock exhaust with their header, but if you read here long enough, you'll see that bigger pipe would help with later mods: 2-2.25" if memory serves.

I just put in a Clifford single outlet header and took it from a 2.25 to 1.75 using three off the shelf Autozone exhaust adaptors. I just slid one into the next and glued them with the same high temp expoxy that I used on the port divider. So far, so good. And it only cost me about $8.00.

Props to you bro. I took some old exhaust pipe and a couple of fittings the Midas guy made up for me in different sizes, slit the biggest one down both sides, spread it and clamped it up on both ends. Then I went back to Midas because I felt I had a moral obligation. He made up a single tapered fitting with a pipe spreader and welded it up. It wasn't any better than what I had done but it wasn't clamped and was more than $8.

Now I gotta get 2" pipe and a turbo exhaust because I still have the stock pee-wee pipe with the inlet/outlet muffler on one side. Carumbah!

Next time....
