I just got a 85 mustang T5 and now need a six to go with it. Whic six's should i be looking for? I want to put this drivetrain into my 67 mustang coupe. I know there are lots of other things i need from reading all the great posts on this site but for now i need to know which engine to find.

The above is an six that was pulled from a mustang but the guy can't remember which year. Anyway to tell if a T5 will bolt to it?

Thanks guys

I don't have Al's website marked on this computer, I'll try to get it when I get home.

There are 3 basic 200 blocks. Early pattern (65 and earlier), Late pattern (66+), and dual pattern (65-67?). I'm pulling that from memory, so don't quote me. basically, the 66 you have has the possibility of being either the early pattern or dual patter block. The only thing this makes a difference in reality is which bell housing you end up needing. THere are 2 adaptor plates out there that will mate any 200 bellhousing to a T5. So all that I said above is really a moot point. Find out what bellhousing you have (check starter location) and we'll tell you which adaptor.

I've got a 69 Mustang with a 250. I had an adapter plate when I first put the T5 in using the old Zbar clutch mechanism and original bell. I replaced it with a bellhousing from a later model that used a cable clutch, and a cable clutch kit. It was one of the best upgrades I've made so far. The cable clutch is much nicer to drive on a daily basis. The experts here can tell you which ones will match up, but that later bell was a direct bolt on with no modification. I did need a new backing plate though.

unfortunately the 250ci I6 shares the SBF bellhousing pattern, so you can swap bellhousings between it and the V8s

as Slade said, there is no block that will allow a bellhousing that will fit a T5 to just bolt up
you have to use an adapter with your regular bellhousing

Here's last I remember.

I have a 81 Mustang T-top coupe with I6 that I would like to convert to T5.

I was under impression I need a 3.03 belhousing from a 67 200 I6, stock 200 I6 flywheel, and 2.3L turbo clutch disc

Then I would need the adapter from Hackmeister Al to mount the T5 to the 3.03 bellhousing.

The problem was last I knew Al wasnt making the adapters anymore and I dont know where you can get them.

If there is more complete or updated info I would be interested as well.

Al sold the design/rights/whatever to ModernDriveline.com
unfortunately, it doesn't look like the site wants to come up... so i'm not sure what to tell ya
i do know that NPD sells adapters for the I6

hrmm...
here, Google pulls up this page which looks to be a partial list of parts for sale... but before you order anything i would strongly encourage you to try and contact them first

sweet, thx for the info guys. I"ll check out the sites and see what else i can find.

Peace

I had bought an apator from AL (not his design though) tha tI think was for a 5.0L T5 (they have a longer input shaft on them) that I had to get milled down to work on my combo (67 bell and 78 block) so a sbf plate might work if you have it milled thinner. my motor had a clutch on it when I bought it (was out of a 64 fairlane) and I was able to use that clutch setup in its entirity.
