White smoke from breather

Hi All; I just upgraded my 250s compression, from 8/1 to 9/1. Milled the head to fit a Holley two barrel carb on the log, and started her up for the first time today. All was fine until I put it under load and then, I started to get a fair bit of white smoke coming out of the breather cap and when I killed the ignition, the engine ran on and on real rough for about 6 seconds. I don't see any water in the oil, and I'm real concerned about this. Anybody know what might be the problem?

What did you do to raise the compression?
says he milled the head

the white smoke could be excessive condensation, but i sorta doubt it, are you sure you put on the head gasket correctly?
for the run-on, it might be too rich, or the timing might be off

how did it run when you put it under a load? how long did you run it? long enough for the engine to get hot?

Thats what I thought at first but then I noticed the milled part was the next sentence.

Also had you run this head before it was worked on? How about the bottom end? IF the head and or block has been shaved did you confirm that the head bolts were not too long? I do this by setting the head on without the gasket and making sure the bolts will seat on the heads. If they dont you need washers. If they wont seat you dont get the head torqued correctly and you are almost guaranteed a leak.

Thanks for the replys guys, {I just got notified of them ;o) I milled the head .050 and used hardened washers under the head bolts. The engine was running just fine before and the only mods were to the head. The engine was new otherwise. It was running well until I put it under load, in this case the propeller. Then a good bit of whitish smoke or mist. It dosn't linger in the air and when I put my safety glasses in the mist, they didn't get any residue on them at all. Also the mist dosen't smell like oil or coolant so???? I did notice a few small bubbles all along the lifter side of the head and a bit of oil weaping along there. Maybe my torque wrench is a bit inaccurate? It seemed to work well the last time but hey I'm grasping at straws here. No water in the oil I can see and no oil in the rad either.
