wiring and vaccuum woes

first off, feel free to call me stupid. i took pictures before we dismanteled my buddies 250 mav (1971 2dr). unfortunately, i didn't take pictures of what i really needed. we're going back stock with the exception of the a/c that was beyond repair. now we've forgotten where all the wires and vaccuum lines go. below is a list of things that i am unsure of
1) one wire from distributor
2) 2 vaccuum ports on the distributor (one on top/one on front)
3) three wires that come out of a harness on the driver's side. all have the little press on connectors that fit onto a stud like on the distributor. this car used to have a/c but doesn't anymore. one of these wires goes to the fast-idle solenoid and will not be used. i'm guessing one of the other wires goes to the oil pressure sending unit.
4) is this thing magical? Where is the temperature sending unit?
5) anyone have the kickdown linkage for a 250? (the one that mounts to the head and connects the actual linkage to the caburetor)
6) where do the red and white connectors go on the alternator in relation to the wire that is held on by a nut?
thanks in advance for all replies. we certainly are glad for any help you can provide.

Hold on for a long answer.

1) The wire from the Dizzy goes to the "-" on the coil.

2) the horizontal vacuum port goes to the spark control vacuum port on the carb, the vertical one goes to a manifold vacuum port. Many people have that one plugged if they are using a dual vacuum advance dizzy.

3) Can't help you there...not sure.

4) the TSU is on the drivers side of the head, all the way in the back.

5) Nope...I have a 200 with a T5

6) Maybe this diagram will help you:

Good luck.

for #3, it does sound like oil press, and the other for temp sending unit. What color are the wires?

Actually, the more I think about #3, I'll double check on my car when I get home tonight. I think those three wires, one goes to the TSU, one to the Oil Press, and one to the + side of the coil. But then again, my car didn't have AC.

found the kickdown linkage at the machine shop. they had a box full of stuff they pulled of the motor. i love those guys. anyone in the north atlanta area who needs machine shop work done, look up chix machine shop. they are near windy hill and south cobb drive.
.
still unsure about some of the wires, i'll post some pictures later that will surely help you to help me. thanks again guys.

about those distributor vaccuum ports again... can they both be plugged into the same vaccuum distribution block? which vaccuum port can i use on the carb to distribute vaccum? can i use the same port on the carb to supply vaccuum to all? if so, should that one vac line from the carb go straight to the vaccuum can/reservior (coffee can looking thingy) and then to a distribution block then to all accessories (distributor, heater control, etc.)? i'm dumb. i'm no mechanic... ... just a parts changer...

Since you are a parts changer, I'd get rid of the dizzy you have and get one with single vacuum and mechanical advance. dual vacuum units were an emissions gimmick. They work, just very hard to get working correctly. PErsonaly, if I were using that type of dizzy, I'd plug the vertical one and just run the horizontal one.
