After buttoning everything up last night, I spent about 5 minutes cranking on it and tinkering with the dizzie but nothing. Would not fire. It help if you reconnect the MSD ignition box to the dizzie :?

THEN, she actually wanted to fire over, but i had my dizzie a tooth or two off. Reset to TDC, dropped the dizzie back in, and VROOM!

Long story short, i was melting tires on the test drive. I have to do a compression check tonight to see what she's holding now, but at first feel, what a difference.

Thanks to all for the help and a HUGE thanks to Mike (Ford Six Parts) who came through again, as always.

I'll have more info later, but as of right now...

I'm back!

I'll cheerfully slouch in my swivel chair and say: Who directed you to the ACL website that includes such stuff as identifying which way up a ring goes, what to look for in hone patterns... And suggested Crow's valve springs... Several times also in various threads, who referred to installing a points dizzy for startup - saves that 5 minutes of wiping cam lube right off again...

Good to see it's going! Now you need to get onto the next person thus imperilled, fast as a starved hyena to ensure they learn from your costly self-education.

you are definitely, the man..or at least one of them i owe much to!

I'll let you in on a secret: The "Contractor's Rule" on clearances.
If you can't fit your finger in the gap, it'll be OK.
People pay a lot more for a house than a motor, and that's what your carpenter is thinking... No wonder we have trouble with mechanics, at times.
