200 ci inline 67 Mustang.
I found a gent selling a aluminum milled 1bbl to 2bbl adapter unit.
Will a 289 2bbl carb work on this to give me a 2 bbl carb set-up or if not, what type of 2 bbl carb should I be looking for?
Thanks

Daryl

There is an adapter made by Clifford that adapts a 1bbl to a two bbl. I have heard that the Holley 2300 is a good carb. I'm thinking about going that route. I'm wondering if there is any clearance problems between the air cleaner and the hood by raising the carb up on this adapter.

the 2300 on cliffords adaptor is just as tall as a carter 1 bbl with the adaptor. the air cleaner has to be skinny or triagle what ever you perfer.

Thank you.

I have a holley 1bbl that keeps flooding on me. I have readjusted the float and cleaned it but it keeps flooding. I am only running a 2.5 - 4 psi fuel pump.

I just used an adaptor I bought from Summit and my old Autolite 2 bbl (from my 69 falcon V8) on my 65 Falcon 200 ci. I really need to rebuild the carb but she runs amazing  It's like a completely different car. I was having problems with the Autolite 1100 originally on there but I wasn't expecting that much of a change. I need to watch myself now, I'm driving it like an idiot

same as above the adapter form summit works fine and is way less than a clifford one

I have searched the Summit site and can't find the adaptor. Can someone point me to the right part number or such so I can look at it.

Also what is the site for Clifford. I go to Clifford.com and get a lot of addresses to visit but no products...Please just point me the right direction.

Thanks
Daryl

Howdy Daryl and All:

The 1st question is to determine if the "Gents" adapter will fit A- to the one barrel mounting flange studs, and B- what the two barrel pattern on top is to.

IF it bolts to your log and if it is a wide base pattern on top, then your 289 autolite 2100 two barrel will work just fine. A 289 Autolite 2 barrel will either be a 1.14 (early) or a 1.08. You will find the venturi size cast onto the side of the float bowl, under the accelerator pump arm. these carbs are very easy to work on and to rebuild.

Other issues-
*This carb will not be compatible with your stock '67 Load-a-Matic distributor. This distributor must get a specific vacuum signal from the Spark Control Valve (SCV) in the Autolite 1100 carb. To get to total performance potential you must upgrade to a distributor ('68 or later) with bothe centrifugal and vacuum advance. The vacuum advance signal from the carb comes from a ported vacuum source, which the Autolite 2100 has.
*The stock linkage will need to be adapted or converted to a cable throttle system.
*Your stock air cleaner will need to be adapted or replaced. The fuel line will also need to be relocated.

Adios, David

TransDapt part No. TRD-2044 from the summit racing site. Cost me $33 and got it in 2 days. Now I have to find a rebuild kit for the Autolite 2100 so I can stop the surging under cruise conditions and stumble off the line. Pretty sure the accelerator pump is shot from sitting on my shelf for 2 years. Pep-Blows wants $100 for a "remanufactored" carb  :x

CZLN6
I bolted it directly to the head. This sits the carb at an angle relative the the valve cover (which required some very minor percussion engineering to fit). It will run with the load-o-matic, but not well. I converted to a Duraspark ignition dizzy & box from a 78 Granada about a week later. I used the Granada pedal and throttle cable (modified to fit through the Falcon firewall) to actuate the throttle. I would suggest finding a vehicle with a slightly longer cable as the Granada just fits  Cost me about $70 for everything so far :D

the reason why i bought clifford is that summits wont fit my 250 head as the bolt pattern is 3 3/8. summit has a 2 15/26, to small. however i am not sure about the small adaptor though

If you need a longer cable, try one off a 1982 Ford F-150 with a 300 6. For an even longer one order a cable for a 1992 Ford F-150 with a 300 6.

Thanks for all the help.....
I have some inforamtion and leads. Right now I am PO'ed at the whole car issue so I am going to take a breather and then go back at it full force.

I think I got ripped off by a local garage and not sure what to do about it yet....Has tainted the soul and lightened the pocketbook too much for what was done.

hey guys, i have a few questions i am collecting parts to install a rebuilt 200 in my truck. did you have any clearance problems with the starter with the header? i am changing to a 3 wire alt. from gen. any advice on brackets or pulleys. i had planned to purchase an adapter and carb. i spoke with pony carbs their guy said i would see no performance increase on basically stock (.030 over) engine and to stay with my original 1 barrel. i know carbs are their bus., but i found that surprising. the flowmasters have a tendency to drone on a 6 cyl. has this been an issue? which series do you have? i appreciate everybodies help ans. and reans. these questions.
