170 Intake Manifold

ok lets see if this image thing works.I chopped the log off of my 170 head and I'm thinking about what type of intake I want to make and I was wondering is anyone has an opinion about this one and it's probability of success.

I wanted to keep the 2 sides connected so there wouldn't be any vacuum issues or anything.

That design is successfully used on many other engines.

I have a number of designs, from a single 1V & 2V to three side draft.

My question is, how have you decided to weld on the new design?

I already have the log chopped and 2 inch extention tubes out of the intake ports welded on.I'm going to make the intake and put flanges on the intake and on the head so the intake will be a bolt on.That way if I want to make another with a 2V I can or 3 1Vs or anything else.I'm using mild steel and a mig/flux core welder and it seems to work nicely.I welded a piece of steel to a piece of the log scrap and beat it to death with a hammer and the cast iron log shattered and left the weld in tact.Seems to be working working out quite well.
