1967 200ci popping

i finally got spark to the motor, but when i try to start the motor it pops. When its turning over its trying to start, and sounds like its gunna start but it pops every time. I think it has something to do with the timing. How can i set the timing being the engine hasnt started yet?

Make sure the timing isn't out 180°. You'll have to make sure TDC is on the compression stroke.

If this is related to your other problem above, then you are very likely to be 180* out.

That's easy to test. Just swap spark plug wires at the distributor. Swap no. 1 for 6, etc.
