1968 200ci water pump

Since I upgraded my radiator I wanted to replace a few old parts while things were apart. I have a replacement water pump but there are three different bolts to secure it. One bolt is very short so it is obvious where it goes. The other two bolts are equal in length to each other. The difference is that one bolt is only threaded halfway. I cannot see any obvious indidcator on the water pump or engine that tell where these bolts go. If anyone can help I can start putting parts back on.

The shop manual isn't helping.

Thanks,

Justin

i believe the one that is only threaded half way up goes on the side with the alternator bracket

now i am only going by memory cause i havnt even seen the motor of my car in like 2 weeks so i may be wrong

That's where I'd put it. Check all have sufficient clearance at the back - nobody wants to punch the side of a bore in...

Here they are:

Could you clarify? Do you mean length of the bolt holes in the head?

I will put the half-threaded bolt on the alternator side. Both of the long bolts I removed from the old pump were only threaded half way and it never leaked.

Thanks for the help.
