1978 FORD 200 PERFORMANCE

IM STARTING WITH A 1978 FORD FAIRMONT.IT HAS A 200 SIX AND A C4 TRANS AND A 8.8 REAREND WITH 373 GEARS.I WAS WONDERING IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT I CAN DO TO THIS MOTOR TO MAYBE GET IT IN THE 9'S IN THE 1/8 MILE.I AM PULLING IT OUT TO REBUILD IT SO ANY THING THAT YALL HAVE TO SHARE WOULD BE GREAT.

9's in the 1/8th, should be doable it'll take some planning and work. Take a look around the site, there are some guys (and gal's) running great times in the 1/4. check out Will and Kelly's falcon, they are running a turbo 250 and are in the 10sec. range in the 1/4 mi.

Take a look at Classic Inines pages, Mike, the owner is the sponsor of this forum, he's got tons of help in the tech section as well as all the parts that you will ever need.

www.classicinlines.com

Good luck with your build.

Take a look at posts by Mustang_Geezer, he has run low 14's in the 1/4 and is in the 9's in the 1/8th with a 200 & C-4in a mustang. You are starting with a good platform as those were the light cars and all the suspension pieces that fit the early fox body mustangs will work on your ride.Do you have smog laws in your area?

buggin85,

Don't want to be anal (or maybe I do), but don't SHOUT!
There's a key on your keyboard labeled "Caps Lock". Make sure it's not pressed.

Now, in regards to your query, purchase "The Ford Falcon SIX Cylinder PERFORMANCE HANDBOOK" either from Classic Inline or from the birds mouth at: http://falconperformance.sundog.net/

Read the handbook several times, then read it again. This handbook will help you plan your project. That and reading the posts on this forum.

Good Luck

Are those Tempo HSC pistons?
If not, from which engine, and what are the specs (diameter, compression height, wrist pin diameter)?
