Ok, some of you are aware I've been looking at a '69 Fairlane donor for an easy way to drop a 250 into my Falcon, because the Falcon is a shortened version of the Fairlane. Now I'd gotten a set of frame mounts from a '69 Fairlane (which is the same as a Torino) for a 250, they look like they'd bolt right into my Falcon but drop the point where the motor mount connects down and back towards the firewall a bit.
So today I spent my lunch break looking up part numbers on RockAuto.com and I've found that the following vehicles all use the same p/n for 200 & 250 motor mounts:
'70-'72 Maverick
'70-'71 Torino
'69-'70 Falcon (only the 200 is an option)
'69 Mustang (confirmed only for the 200, no data on 250)
'68 Ranchero (confirmed only for the 200, no data on 250)
So it got me to thinking, I'd been searching for the upper brackets and motor mounts which I'd ASSumed are different between the 200 and 250, but maybe that's not the case! Maybe just the different frame brackets are all that's needed to give enough space for the 250's longer water pump snout and account for the increased deck height.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to find a complete soure of part numbers, and even noticed a few discrepancies in RockAuto's numbers, so I can't confirm it one way or the other. Guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just try to get a 250 in there.
I'd like to hear the forum's thoughts on this.
