Updating from previous post, the motor was leaning out. I went through the 38/38, adjusted the float and dropped in a pair of larger 165 main jets. Big improvement, but still surged a bit. I swapped in some 170 jets and a larger idle jet and it runs fantastic now. We are only getting about 80% throttle and the timing is less than perfect (waiting for the rings to seal a little more) so I think there's some more in it. It had plenty of grunt for some long burnouts and donuts Thursday night 8)
The Cliffy valve cover is the only thing missing in the engine bay (besides some detailing). We've done quite a bit of grinding, but it's still hitting about 4 of the rocker arms. Not sure what to do.... make a spacer plate, try 3 gaskets (it still hit with 2), or grind the piss out of the cover. It sure makes a huge visual impact when it's on there though
