223 low idle and choke problems; What does your 223 idle at?

Not looking forward to doing that.....ever. But I may end up doing it anyways. Leak is hardly there.

You're from Bakersfield huh? So am I, just haven't added my location.

I've been reading this post and it made me register! My 223 can get down to about around 450 RPM but shakes a bit and wants to stall. Its better around 600. It runs great but has a tremor every so often... but I drift from your topic. This post has made for a great read and helpful in many ways from some great contributors. Thanks and please continue with your effort. I know we all are rooting for you!

Yeah, the truck seems to be running pretty good. Still having the head gasket leak a little coolant. I was told the only "correct" way to fix was to pull the head and replace the gasket.......dangit!

Well, at least the trucks on the road! Get complements almost every day.

Also, when you change the headgasket be sure to get new head headbolts (maybe ARP). The OEM bolts are a low grade bolt, which will stretch over time and will cause a leak.

My 223 idles at 500 RPM and it has a lot of torque. I'd say up to 45 mph you can't really tell that it isn't a V8. It even sounds like the 360 FE that was in my dad's 1969 F100. I have rebuilt my Holley 1904 and I also have redone the grounds with the battery ground going directly to a starter bolt. With a bad ground, the engine would not start.

 I also run a ground from frame to engine and engine to the body.
