HI, NEW TO FORDSIX.COM. I HAVE BEEN READING ALOT OF PEOPLES MESSAGES RE: CARB LINKAGE. I HAVE 1966 CONVERTIBLE WITH A 200 CID. I JUST BOUGHT A HOLLY CARB2300 350CFM ALONG WITH A CLIFFORD HEADER AND PORT DIVIDER AND CARB ADAPTER. THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WAS THE ADAPTER MADE THE CARB FACE THE WRONG WAY,BUT I FIX THAT WITH SOME GRINDING. THE CARB FACES THE RIGHT WAY NOW.SECOND PROBLEM IS AND NOT FIXED YET IS THE LINKAGE. THIS IS THE ONE THING IM NOT REAL GOOD AT. NEED SOME HELP!!!!IT SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF EVERYBODY IS GOING TO CABLE. IT SOUNDS GREAT AND I TRIED TO DO THAT AND CAN NOT GET IT TO WORK. I SAW BILL AND CRISTY'S MUSTANG FROM CAR DOMAIN ( SWET66) HAS THE SAME SET UP AS ME. I LOOK AT HIS PHOTOS RE: HIS CABLE LINKAGE AND STILL CAN NOT GET IT. ALSO MY THE ARM FROM THE GAS PEDAL LINKAGE HITS THE HEADER.CAN SOME ONE IN DETAILED INFO AND MAYBE MORE PHOTOS EXPLAIN HOW TO DO THIS FOR ME AND ANY ONE ELSE THAT IS HAVEING THE SAME PROBLEM. THANKS KIRK (TOPDOWN66) I WILL PUT UP PHOTOS IN SEVEAL WEEKS!!!

You can easily install a V-8 gas pedal to attach to and not worry about the linkage hitting your headers...

The cable cost about $30 total. The V-8 gas pedal was obtained for about $25.

THANKS STEVE-O FOR SOME INFO: YOUR SET UP IS CLOSE BUT NOT THE SAME. WHAT V8 GAS PEDAL DID YOU USE. AND DO YOU THINK THIS WOULD WORK SINCE MY CARB LINKAGE NEEDS TO GO ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE YOURS IS AND ON THE HEADER SIDE. THE THROTTLE ON THE CARB LINKAGE PULLS DOWN WOULD THIS STILL WORK!!!!! THE OLD CARB PUSH UP ALONG WITH THE GAS PEDAL LINKAGE. THANKS (TOPDOWN66) NOTE: MY 66 IS THE SAME COLOR SLIVER BLUE METALLIC W/WHT TOP

A gas pedal from a V-8 early mustang does not pull up over the headers. It pulls back to the firewall behind the rear driver side of the engine. Usually installing a pedal is pretty straight forward. If you do not have the holes already in your firewall, three small drill holes, three bolts and you're done installing it.

Then fab a peice of angle (I used aluminum) for the intial; mount and put the other end near your carb.

The angle I used to connect the cable and springs to my carb were from woodworking materials I had laying around. I took a peice of 90 degree flat corner brace and bent one side up. That is where the cabel goes through. Had to enlarge the hole a bit. It attached right to the corner bolt on the carb.
