I have an 86 model XF S pac with a fuel injected 250 and 5speed and I would like to do some basic mods to the engine to make it quicker at the drags. I intend to fit extractors (can I use extractors from a carby X-flow motor or do I need injected ones) a 2.5 inch exhaust and hook up some kind of cold air intake plus get a more suitable diff ratio but from here I'm pretty much stuck. How big a cam can I run before it will upset the computer? was looking at a crow grind that gives increased power from 2000 to 5000 revs (there is another from 2500-6000 but I assume other engine mods are needed to make it worthwhile) would either of these cause computer problems. I was also intending to install a rollmaster or similar timing set and change to better quality lifters (if they are needed). Are there any other parts I should change to make the basic engine a little bit stronger? If I decide to open the engine would some baisc headwork and maybe a change in the compression ratio make worthwhile power gains if so what compression ratio should I be looking the achieve (the car will run premium unleaded at all times and it is not an every day driver). Thanks for any help any one can give me.
