I have a 1975 250 head that will be going on a rebuilt 200 block. I had a shop do the direct 2V conversion and upon completion the shop owner told me he had to plug the port on the intake manifold and reinforce with jb weld because the wall of the manifold was so thin in that area after milling. Here are some pics that show the conversion. I think on my stock engine this was used as a vacuum port, and the port on the carb base was used for the PVC vent hose, I just can't remember (pic below). My main question is will the permanent closure of this port cause issues?? Is this actually a vacuum port?
I have posted most of my build comments in the intro section. This is my first build experience and I am trying to learn as much as possible but I am definitely a novice. A highly recommended shop will be doing the assembly on the engine. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can during the process and be able to offer as much information as I can. Let me know if there is other information that will assist with answering this question. All help is greatly appreciated. Hopefully I post these pics correctly.
