Just verifying that my Faimont has a 250.

First, 4 bolts on the water pump (identification piece #1).

Second, someone told me that the 250 has a seperate intake manifold from the head...is this true?

I guess thats all the questions for now. Knowledgeable sources may proceed with vital information.

Thanks,

Joe

water pump, yes
intake, no

no US small sixes ever came with a removable intake, the Oz and Argie ones did though

The 250 wasn't offered in a Fairmont to my knowelege. Also, it ended production in 1980.

I have an Autolite parts list for the Model 200GP 6-Cylinder Gasoline Engines and Power Units, circa 1969 that clearly shows what appears to be a removable intake manifold, part #9424. I thought perhaps that illustration was for a 300, or some other size, but I'm not sure if they were being made at that time. Perhaps there's a whole whack of farm machinery out there with hi-po intakes!

might be one of the engines that the 300 replaced
which side was the intake on when looking at the front of the engine?

Same as the exhaust manifold, on the right. I would really like to post a pic but my scanner was hooked up an old mac that just died. Tried to take a photo of the page but couldn't get a good one.

I will definitely post a picture of this on a new topic when I get my technology sorted out.

The Industrial 200's I have seen use a C8 casting block and a standard, small log integral cylinder head.

Maybe a British Ford six? Pretty sure there was a unit close to 200 in size, and it did have a detachable fanimold. They often wound up (wound out?) with triple SU's.

Regards, Adam.

About the year of the car. I dont know. Says 1981 on the title.

Any vin ID that could verify or reject this title year, such as a "1" or "0" in a certain sequence, say the third or fourth number, par example?

It REALLY looks like the stock motor, and I have serious doubts that its a transplant.

4 bolts too, seriously.

Maybe they made the Fairmont Futura in limited numbers with a 250, per chance?

Any info is cool of yall.

To confirm it's a 250:

Big one's a 250, small a 144-170-188-200-221 unit. The dark line above in the first picture, is a straightedge to show the pump length differences.

Oh, and the big one's for sale, $25 firm.
