I am doing the 1v to 2v carb swap. I got the H/W carb from stovebolt. Is there a way I can use the likage already on the carb and not have to get a new one? I would really like to get the car running today or tomorrow.
I have mine set where the stock linkage just fits, after modifying the carb link.
If I rotate the carb/adapter 90* counterclockwise, the linkage will fit much better, with the addition of an extension to the Z-bar. Another one of members did that, and it should work nicely.
The next issue is the PCV setup:
If you connect the PCV at the same place as the dizzy & tranny kickdown, you'll run into vacuum issues. Don't know why, but the factory has the connection directly below the carb. It seemed to make a difference for me.
I am actually doing it differently than everyone else that I have seen. I am hooking it up where the throttle linkage will hook up straight. I am going to make a metal rod and connect it to the car throttle and then the carb throttle. How do we fine tune this carb? We ran the car for the first time in almost a week. Trying to figure out how to fine tune the carb to make the car run better.
I ran a rod straight from the firwewall to the carb. That turned out to NOT be a good idea. Within a year or two of off and on driving the throttle shaft wore out to the point the car would barely run. It caused too much wear and tear. I would look for a cable setup.
Well I have a temporary cable throttle setup. Went to Lowes and got 4 feet of 3/32 steel cable. Used only about 2 feet of it and make a cable throttle. I should be ordering a real cable setup soon.
