this is the second one the first was just old but the new one is starting to seperate now as well. the rubber and the metal back come apart. this is after a few hard launches but nothing crazy. the engine is a stock 200 so what are you guys doing that have way more hp? oh and it is the left side or driverside the one that gets pulled.

make a torque strap to save your mounts,,, piece of chain and a turn buckle on dr side, can even get it chromed :)

This issue has happened quite often recently due to the poor qualityof the repro mounts. What brand were they and where were they made?

Ummm...the '62 Ranchero didn't come with a 200. They weren't produced until the '64 model year...

But that's probably neither here nor there...

I drilled a 5/16" hole through the metal backing and the metal insert in the middle, if that makes any sense.

I then stuck a bolt through and put a nut on the inside. Still loose enough to wiggle around, but limits the travel so it doesn't tear out.

Before I did that, I wore out a set of 50$ ESPO motor mounts in about 5 minutes. Garbage.

I've got a set of 10$ NAPA mounts in there now that are doing much better, with the turbo noless.

Nope, nobody does engine swaps around here.

when the F150 did similar, i used a 1/2" bolt where the reinforcing pin was supposed to be (but fell out on first test drive). never had another problem with it, and i abused it!
make sure you use a locknut.

my experience was on carquest mounts, which were poor quality. the failure of the right mount caused severe damage to the oilpan, and a good bruise on my leg during engine braking, which is where it broke.

buy a different brand of mount, reiforce it, and it should be fine

i got this one from kragen. i bought both sides but only the one side was busted the otherside (looks original) was fine and still is. but the new one is done and i really want to take this thing to the track but i am afraid of dropping the motor on the ground lol. does anyone that has "renforced" their mounts have a pic of it so i can see where to add the bolt? i am this close to just making a solid mount lol. oh and i am fabbing a chain after i replace the next mount. ohhhhh and yes it is a 200 out of a 68 mustang with a M head. i am also at the same time going to make a better trans mount rather than the floppy leaf spring thing.

are you guys breaking the later mounts as well? i have an early 62 with the early mounts. they look pretty beefy but the rubber keeps sheering off the metal backing. if you are looking at it where the bolts go into the motor there are two thick rubber sides with metal plates on each side. i was thinking of drilling through and adding a bolt to each side so that when it pulls up first the rubber will move then catch the bolt and hopefully limmit the strain. but if any of you have pics of your modded mounts that would help a lot.

I have the same problem but on the right side. It use to drop my motor down just to where it was barely touching the belly bar and made a weird clunking sound. Thought I had some bad rod knock...
Noticed the other day that it looks like it's starting to drop again.

Watch out, one of the replacement motor mounts I got from Napa had Metric threads(??). Took a few to figure out why I couldn't get the nuts to thread on while under the motor.

Maybe Classic Inlines could offer a better product???!!!!!
