Now I have no time or money...
Bummer man!...that double whammy seems to be going around alot these days. FYI to follow up on that ebay YF here's the listing Carter YF carburetor for Ford engines
I believe it matches one of those linked above not sure which. He told me they were chinese made new/reproductions, but he does have one ding against him for a YFA that had emissions compatibility issues...others have apparently left good fb for the YF from what I can see. I'm more than a little skeptical of rebuilders these days. Although the rebuilders are probably located here in the US...but I'm not touching that subject with a 10ft pole

Thanks for the link. I think I'm going to get one from Summit as their customer service is really good IMO. Although... a Chinese YF might go good with my Chinese transmission pan, chinese upper control arms,...

This looks like a bargain to me. I notice they specify a 1.5x" venturi; is this the carb with the 1.75" base and they are measuring the minimum diameter up inside?
Joe

Joe, I noticed that in his listing as well..."Venturi size 1.57 in"...I've got a question into him to clarify the throttle bore size, but it does seem like a good deal to me for a "new" yf. And eventhough I've hitched my wagon to the 'nearly worth its weight in gold carburetor' I've seriously thought about picking one of these up for a back-up/future project (now I just need a deal on a '63-65 chero that's too hard to pass up  ).

I did some checking to see if I can find anyone else selling this new/reproduction carter, but no luck so far. I did find (I think) where they might be available for importing (http://www.alibaba.com)... @ AzCoupe if you happen to read this

Sorry KK...don't mean to derail your thread, but thought this option might interest you as well...I'll post back what I hear from him on the venturi vs throttle bore. Also an additional bit of info I came across when searching was a Holley/Carter interchange that might be useful in your search:

Good luck!

Been looking for matched set of three Weber IDF's 40, 44, 48 sizes if any one runs accross any at a low budget price could use them for my 3 x 2 intake!

This post is turning into a pretty good carb resource I think. It seems like the thing people talk about the most in regard to the ford six is carbs. Hopefully I'll be ordering one from Summit within the next week or so.

Just to follow up, after the equivalent of pulling teeth I got an answer...~1.75in throttle bore YF. Still may be a viable option for an alternative 'newly cast' carb, given communication is not their strong point...guess it must be something about the carb business :P

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I got lucky and found a DSII ignition on a junkyard Fairmont and installed it back in June. It's amazing how much of a difference switching to electronic ignition has made. (If you haven't already done it, then you need to.) Next up will be ordering the correct carb - then we'll see how this thing runs. :D

Have you tried Rock Auto. I recently bought an Autolite carb for a 200 six from them, complete with SCV valve and the correct vacuum port. It was only $100 or so and works perfectly....
