hey is there anyone here you knows lots about xf engine? i own a 1987 xf efi, there is a green cable which goes to the dizzy when i connect it the car back fires a lot, any suggestions?

:I assume what you are calling a 'green cable' is a green connector. This is the SPOUT (or SPark OUT) connector. When it is disconnected the timing is controlled by where the distributor is set - on a standard XF efi it will be 10 degrees. Check the ignition timing - it is probably way out! Have you had the distributor out? Maybe it is tooth out or something. Let us all know when you find out what is was!
