Accessory Belts 200 six - Help

I have been getting some great help with my porject to add power steering to my 66 cvt. but I am very confused about how the factory drove the altenrator, water pump, A/C compressor and power steering pump on a 66 200 six.

On my 66 fbk there appears to be a dual v-belt harmonic balancer. There is also a double belt water pump pully. The A/C compressor has a single belt pully. One belt is positioned on the block side groove of the balancer pully around the block side pully of the water pump and around the alternator. The 2nd belt goes on the outer balancer pully (radiator side) around the outer water pump pully and around the A/C compressor.

I have located a double belt balancer for my cvt. Seems I need also a double belt water pump pully. How is the P.S. pump pully driven on a 200 six without A/C? How is it driven on a 200 six with A/C? Is there diagrams of this someplace? In my Hanes manual it only shows pully drive design for a 302.

From what I can remember-
the dual belts run on the [original] AC compressor, the alternator, water pump, and crank. The PS just runs off the crank. The crank pulley is a triple V. That was on my 68, but I hope it may help out somewhat.

did you get your bracket for the pump yet ? your best bet is to bolt up the brackets and pump first. then worry about the belt configuration. if you end up with a late model bracket it will likely sit higher then the original.
if you already have an original bracket disregard this post.

I'm on my way to the bone yard this afternoon to see what I can find. I guess I have to start somewhere. I'll just bolt up whatever can rip off a 79-81 inline 6 Stang or '71 - 82 Fairmont, Monarch, Zepher, Maverick, Ganada, etc. with a 200 or 250. See if I cant't get it on my block with JB Weld somehow and go from there.

on my six, I believe the second crank pulley is a bolt up add on to the balancer. american-mustang.com had one on the counter when i was there a few weeks back.

Well, I'm back from the bone yard. Found a '77 Maverick with a six. Someone beat me to the P.S. pump but I took the brackets. I cleaned the brackets up in my parts washer and headed over to my 66 cvt. with the 200. None of the bracket parts off that Maverick are going on my block. In fact, I can't even find holes in my block where these brackt parts mounted to the Maverick motor. I was told that if I got the pump and brackets from (79-81) Mustang or (71-82) fairmont, Granada, Monarch, Zepher, Maverick, etc. with a 200 or 250 six they would mount to my block.

Does anyone out there understand what I need to put a power steering pump on a 66 200 that did not come with this. Anyone that wants the brackets and mtg. hdwr. for a P.S. pump in a '77 Maverick, let me know. I'm out $15. You can have it for this + shipping. It's already cleaned up.

there's two small holes on the front of the block close to the head. they are on the diagonal. also you use some of the timing cover bolts. is your a/c on the driver side or passenger side?

Grocery Getter. Thanks. This car does not have A/C. This motor never head either A/C or P.S. I just want to add P.S. I see the 2 holes on the diagonal. They are on either side of a freeze and located just behind the radiator hose connected to the water pump right?

Grocery Getter,

I took the cast part of the bracket and the bracket. The cast part of the bracket was held to the '77 Maverick motor with two thresaded studs. The studs went through the cast cast bracket & screwed into the diagonal holes in the block. The remaing thread on the studs is what part of the bracket hung off of. The bracket has also a support arm attached that wend from the bracket to the block just behind the oil filter.

First, on my 200 six, the studs are two large for the threaded diagonal holes. Second, the cast bracket from tha Maverick has a hole spacing that is larger than my diagonal hole spacing. Third, although there is a casting boss behind my oil filter, it is not drilled or tapped for the suppport arm.

I see I can buy a bracket from NPD. The pictrue of the bracket does not show any slotted bolt holes. This tells me that the belt tension is then created with additional bracket pieces or some other fashion I don't understand. Your help is appreciated.

Their are two belts on my 67 with A/C. It has single grove pully on the balancer with a belt that drives both the A/C and the water pump. The A/C has a double grove pully with a second belt that drives the alternator.
