Adjusting tappets on 2v

I've just finished putting an exhaust on my XA ute and now all i can hear is the tappets! When i fitted the head about a month ago, i tried the spinning pushrods method which got me pretty close. (didn't sound to bad without an exhaust)

I thinking about adjusting them with the engine running until they sounded acceptable. any other idea's? anyone know the correct clearences?

i think i adjust them the same way as you,do them up until you can just spin them then do them up 1/4 of a turn,this is for hyd lifters.

yeah that's how i've done it. is there a better way? and should they be set hot or cold?
